Miracle Baby

This precious little one holds a special place in our hearts. She is truly a miracle! Little Miss Mckenna was due in May but arrived in February at only 27 weeks. She weighed 2 pound and 5 ounces. I remember when she was born how scared we all were for her, and how amazed we were at the strength and faith of her parents. She was in Valley Children's Hospital for three months. It is hard to describe in words how blessed we felt to be able to photograph this happy, healthy six month old today! She is smiling and cuing. She is a beautiful miracle! My friend Mindy, Mckenna's mommy said today, "She has amazed the doctors. She is doing everything that she should be doing. She is an example of how good God is and we want give Him all of the credit."
I believe there are miracles all around us, sometimes we have to look hard to find them and sometimes they are right there in front of us chubby little legs and a big smile!

Tutu Cute!

We had a precious little model in the studio this morning. She did a great job modeling some of our new beanies and tutus from Pink Poodle Bows (http://www.pinkpoodlebows.etsy.com/).
Thank you Miss K! You were awesome!

Introducing our Newest Addition

We have a new addition to our family. Little Gracie was adopted on July 11, 2009. Weighing in at 1 pound 1 ounce and 6 1/2 inches. She is a beautiful baby lion head rabbit.
If you were following us on Facebook back in the spring, you may remember that we had King Rey visit for a couple of days while we did our Easter portrait special. King Rey belongs to our dear friends and we very much appreciate them loaning him to us. After Rey had been in the studio for 10 minutes, I knew we were in trouble! Our daughter immediately feel in love and began her quest to convince us that buying our own rabbit was a "good business investment."
Over the last few months we have heard several convincing (or not) reasons why we NEED a bunny. "I will take care of it all by myself!" "It can live outside...in the barn....in the cottage...in the prop room...Can I just keep it in my room?" "When little children come for pictures you can reward them by letting them pet a real live bunny!" (or my personal favorite) "Isn't it a business write-off?"
I am not sure which argument worked or if she just wore us down over time but we now have Miss Gracie and I think we are all growing very fond of her. Funny how cute and fuzzy creatures have their way of quickly wrapping themselves around our hearts isn't it?

Inspiration

There is just something about vacations that inspire me. It seems that no matter where we go I find something that inspires an idea for our buisness. While shopping in Cambria we came across this darling boutique. I tried to get the store owner to sell her antique trike (pictured) because I knew it would make a great prop, but unfortuately she would not part with it.

Two things about this store inspired me. First, the finishes were amazing. This boutique had beautifully faux finished walls and doors that made you feel like you were in a charming country cottage in Italy. Ahaa....inspiration. We are now refinishing four old farmhouse doors (with original hardware). These doors came out of the house where I was born and so they hold a special meanning for me, but when we are finished, I hope to have some unique backdrops for our high school senior sessions.

The second aspect of this boutique that inspired me was the amazing customer service that we received. The store owner treated us like friends. She was gracious and helpful. She made us feel like we were the most important customers of her day. She did not carry a huge line of products, but what she had was of high quality.....unique...not things you see just every where. I really didn't mind paying a little more because I knew what I was purchasing was worth every penny. I truly enjoyed the experience!

When we left the store, I told my friends, "This is what Mike and I are striving for. We want to offer our clients the "boutique" experience. We want them to enjoy the entire experience and walk away with beautiful portraits that are unique and priceless to them!" So there you have it...Inspiration! If you are ever in Cambria, pay a visit to our new friend Sylvia at the Wise Old Owl.

When my dear friend asked if we would create some art work for her daughter's room, I said, "Absolutely! We would be honored!" Katie bug, as we affectionatley call her, loves animals so we knew her artwork needed to include her animals. After looking at her room, her mom and I decided that one large gallery wrap and a couple smaller ones on another wall would decorate her room nicely. Puppies...bunny....Katie....and her Sis! We had soooooo much fun! These are just a few of the images that we were able to capture.
